I Love Cards and Cosmo Cricket!

Yep, I do. Love them both.

I love making cards because they are so little and fun and I get to give them to people I love to brighten their day.

I love Cosmo Cricket because their products aren't just great for scrappin' but also for card making! Their Ready, Set, Chip adds that perfect touch to cards and their Elements and Stickers and Rub Ons have wonderful sentiments.

Oh, and don't get me started on their versatility! From little boys to weddings to heritage themes, Cosmo Cricket's got you covered! Their lines also can be intermixed and used for other themes than what they were intended.

They are my kind of company!

Yep, this is a blatant plea to be considered for their design team! LOL!

Go, baby, go!

Well, I've been getting up early to work out and at first I was feeding Audrey at that time.
I've since wised up and realized that she's going to get used to waking at 5:00am if I kept that up.

So, yesterday and today I just snuck off to the gym without feeding her. Yesterday she slept until 10:30 and today she slept until 8:00 and then after her feeding went right back to sleep. It's a little uncomfortable for me but my body will adjust soon and I'm really looking forward to this weekend and a nice 8-9 hours of uninterrupted sleep! :D

She's almost ready to move into her own room now. Go, baby girl! :D

Audrey's Room

Thought I'd share some pics of Baby Girl's bedroom. :D

I got the idea for the paper lantern mobile from Ali Edward's blog. I bought the big lantern at IKEA and the little ones at Micheal's. The green and white are as-is but the pink ones were originally white and I sprayed them with Glimmer Mist to make them pink. I want to get some pale pink GM and spray the largest lantern.
The pink chair in the corner is from my grandfather's family's teasel barn. The legs were cut short to match the height of the table in the barn. I have a green one in Mickey's room, too! Mickey stands on the pink one so he can watch and play with Audrey while I change her.

Audrey's little storage cubby. The basket is where I'd rather have the chair but, little man needs to see the baby so in the name of fostering sibling love, I'm okay with it. :D

The rug is one I bought for my scraproom when I lived in my condo. It was in Mickey's nursery until I found a pale blue/green/white one.

And finally, Audrey's baby quilt. My mom made it for her. I just adore it! I couldn't have picked a better one if I'd tried! Thanks, Mom!!! :D

Imaginary Cocoa

I've had more cups of imaginary cocoa this afternoon than I've had my entire life! LOL! Little man, baby girl and I hit the garage sales this morning bright and early. I mean 8:15 early!

How did I manage to get myself and my two kids ready for the day and out the door at that glorious hour? Well, the last three days I've been getting up at the ungodly hour of 5:00 a.m. Yep, FIVE AM! I wake to my cell phone alarm, nurse Audrey, get dressed and go work out.

So, today I bought clothes, books and shoes for the kids, a few goodies for me and a Dora the Explorer talking kitchen. This three foot tall wonder came complete with food and extra dishes for only $15.00! This is the purchase that has led to the imaginary cocoa, snacks of pie and fried eggs and cookies with marshmallows!

I hope all these imaginary calories don't interfere with my weight loss! LOL! :D

Four Years

Yep, it's our anniversary today! Four years ago we said our I do's at Willamette Valley Country Club, my brother was our officiant, and there were thunderstorms all around the area but not a one in Canby! Yeah, baby! :D

We're hopefully going to go to dinner in the next few days. He wants to take me to Creekside so he can have ribs and I can indulge in tater tots. Oh, I love the tots! And, I love that man for knowing this! But, with a two month old who is nursing and a mom who still hasn't gotten around to creating a back up stash of milk, it's going to be a while before we can go out without her.

Maybe we'll have someone watch Mickey and take Audrey to Olive Garden or something. Ah, the joys and comprimises of parenthood! LOL!

ps~speaking of little miss, she slept from 10pm to 5am today! Go, baby girl! :D

I closed the bugs door, Mama!

Mickey, after closing the screen door! LOL!

Squeal!!!!!

My "I hope" layout is the featured layout today over at 2peas!!!!

I was so excited to see that this morning! Not even a massive blowout by Audrey 15 minutes later could dampen my spirits! LOL! :D

Mama, I like the pink

Said by Mickey this evening after I gave him his ear infection medicine. Finally! The stuff tastes wonderful and we've had to force him to take it.

Life should be a little easier now...at least at 8:00am and 8:00pm!

Randomness on a Monday

Well, I didn't win, place or show but I am getting a consolation prize from Cosmo Cricket!!! This totally rocks as they are currently one of my favorite companies. :D I also got something else really cool out of this contest, besides me time and getting a lot of scrapping done. But, you'll have to wait until next month to find out what that something cool is!

So I didn't win at the Nook but I did win a free class over at Get It Scrapped! I entered a little random drawing on Torm's blog and found out this morning that I won! Whoo-hoo! Totally needed that. The class starts today and I can't wait to dive in as I've never taken an online class before. Should be a blast!

Audrey didn't make it as long as she did last night but still slept a respectable seven solid hours! Too bad I didn't get to bed until two hours after she did. Oh, well. We'll try again tonight!

The reason I didn't get to sleep is because Andrew is getting house antsy again. Our landlords put the house we are living in on the market last weekend and they put a sign up in the yard yesterday. So now Andrew wants to go look at a house that we didn't like enough to look at six months ago. Sigh. The thought of buying a house we don't love or even really like makes me lose sleep. Keep your fingers crossed for me that a great house for us shows up soon! :D

Have a wonderful Monday!

Audrey slept through the night last night..

and I hope it happens again! She went to sleep at 10:30 and didn't wake until 7:00am!!! Go, baby girl! If she keeps it up she'll be in her own room by Friday! :D

I really hope she does it tonight I didn't get to fully enjoy last night as I had to wake up at 2:00am to give Mickey some Tylenol.

A layout and an update on Mickey

We had Mickey's appointment with his doc yesterday and it went pretty well. I had a little scare on the way in because he was sleepy and I kept thinking it was pre-seizure not just drowsiness. I actually pulled over and checked on him just to make sure. Poor kid! At his doctors, he still had a fever of about 101 so we have to continue the tylenol/ibuprofen regimen we've got going on. I may stop that today as he feels fairly cool this morning. I really hope so because he hates having the medicine and I hate waking up every three hours in the middle of the night. LOL!

There's a chance that he may be in the third of kids who have recurring febrile seizures and not just one so we have to keep Tylenol in the car just in case. His ear infection is almost cleared up so his pediatrician thinks that the ER doc was right about another viral infection.

On to scrappin' stuff!

Here is my layout for the final round at the Scrapbook Nook. We had complete creative freedom with this, it just had to be a layout. I had these first pics of Audrey smiling and knew that they were what I wanted to scrap.

And a few close ups. :)

The journaling goes around the edge of the yellow paper and reads:

That smile~greets me every morning~starts out adorably one-sided~is beautiful~makes me smile~will hopefully be enough to get us through her teenage years~is lovely~makes me happy~more than makes up for lack of sleep~melts our hearts~is completely uninhibited~was photographed for the first time on May 31st

I used little adhesive pearls as bullet points in between the journaling to match the ones on the flowers and the butterfly.

The judges have this weekend to decide so we'll probably hear back by Monday.

Wish me luck!!! :D

Not a good day.

Today started out good. Kids were behaving, and we took off to Sherwood to go to Life's a Scrapbook (awesome store!) where one of my online friends, Lynn was scrappin' all day. Then my cousin, who works across the street from that store stopped in on her lunch to see us. She hadn't seen Audrey yet so it was cool that she got to see her. Anyways, I visited and shopped and then we headed for the hills. I decided to go home via Canby so we could see my mom for a bit.

Well, I got a little hungry and I pulled into the Canby Burger King parking lot and realized that Mickey wasn't right. I got out and went to his seat and he wasn't responding to me, his eyes were rolled up and to the right, he was drooling and twitching...he was having seizure! I called 911 and then when they hung up with me, I called Andrew. I called my mom and Andrew called my dad and they all followed us in the ambulance to one of the larger hospitals with a pediatric ER.

Mickey had a fever of 102.8 and didn't talk to me until we were almost to the hospital. They gave him some Tylenol to bring down his fever, examined him and then decided to give him a CAT scan because he'd bumped his head yesterday. He was dozing off between all this stuff and at one point didn't even wake when they took his temp the "other" way. His CAT scan came out okay and it turns out he has an ear infection and they think a viral infection. They think that is what caused the high fever which brought on a febrile seizure.

We have to dose him every three hours alternating between baby Tylenol and baby Advil for the next 24 hours, give him his antibiotic twice a day and take him to his doc tomorrow for a check up.

He is acting normal now, thank God, and we just need to keep a close watch on him for a few days. They want to make sure it's not meningitis.

Anyway, that scared me to pieces and I never want to go through that again!!!

Audrey at two months...

~is athletic like her dad. Yesterday, at her two month appointment, she rolled over for the first time. In front of the doctor and me and my mom and about three seconds after my mom commented that she looked like she would start rolling over soon. The doctor had just been saying how strong she was and how she held her head up so high, my mom made her comment and boom! Audrey rolled over! I hope she doesn't walk at eight months!!!

~is a talker like her mom (and her dad)! The doc was impressed with her baby coos. Audrey was making all sorts of sounds when "talking" to the doc, smiling up a storm and making clicking sounds with her tongue. According to the doc these are all really good things.

~cried more yesterday then she had her entire life! And louder, too! Yeah, it was her first shots. Oh, baby did she cry! I picked her up as soon as they were done and she calmed a bit then I tried to nurse her thinking that would calm her more and she ramped right back up. All she wanted was to be held and she stopped. But those three, four minutes were awful!

~is still adored by her brother. This morning he said "Audrey wake up!!!" when we came into the living room and gave her a big kiss. He means woke up but says wake up. Super cute!

~is stinkin' cute!!! I know, I'm her mother and shouldn't say things like that but I just can't help it!!!! :D

~weighs 12 lbs, 2.8 oz, is 23 1/4" long and her head is 15 3/4" around. She's in the 75th-80th percentile for pretty much everything.

~is really interested in those hanging toys on her bouncy chair and has no use whatsoever for a binky. I'm a big proponent of the binky because once they are older you can take the binky away. You can't take away their thumb! LOL!

I Made It!!! (and some layouts)

I made it to Round Three of the Nook Scrap Off! I'm really very excited and quite a bit nervous. I think they are going to announce the first challenge today!!!

So, to calm my nerves a bit, I'll post the layouts I made for Round Two.

This first layout was to be inspired by something in/around your home. The lamp on my nightstand is what I used for inspiration. The base is clear and the shade is covered in flowers. So I created a layout where the base is a transparancy and bordered it with flowers. I actually made my lampshade, too! It was inspired by that episode of Trading Spaces where Hilde stapled silk flowers to a bathroom's walls. Do you remember that???
This next challenge was called use this, not that. There was a list of things we should and should not do/use on our layout. We had to use the color yellow, no stars, flowers, at least three patterned papers, and no brads. This is what I came up with. The journaling is to the right of the photo.
This was my layout for the Round Two main challenge. We had to scrap a current (taken after the challenge was announced) self portrait and the theme of the layout was Keepin' It Real.

I made a two page layout for a challenge that needed to have shaped photos. But, I didn't enter it in the challenge because it was a double or nothing challenge!!! The top five layouts got 15 points, the next five got zero and the rest of the field lost five points!!! I'd missed a bunch of points for some blog hops/gallery love and was waaaaaay too chicken to enter it!

This last layout was a challenge to use those journaling spots that we all have. No patterned paper was allowed, just journaling spots on a sheet of cardstock. So, I made a layout using up some Scenic Route journaling spots. The layout is about how two of my nieces.

Well, that's all the stalling I can do this morning. I'm off to go check the boards to see if the new challenge is up!

Round Two SBN Challenges~The Card Edition

Wow! This Second Round has really kept me hoppin'! I made eight cards for this round. I know! Eight!

This first set of three was a challenge to make one card, then take the scraps and make another, and then take those scraps and make a third card.

These next three all had to be food related. I gave them to my granny for her birthday. She loved them!

Finally, these last two were a challenge to make two cards to send to our fellow contestants for a job well done.

The hardest part about that last challenge was picking who to send my cards to! Everyone at the Nook has been doing great work.
I'll post my layouts from this second round tomorrow. Thanks for looking! :D
