Fun Stuff!

I've gotten some fun e-mails lately that I wanted to share.  First up, I got an e-mail yesterday requesting one of my card for an upcoming issue of Create magazine!  Wheee!!!  It will be my second pub with Northridge Publishing.

Next, I got an e-mail from A Walk Down Memory Lane, an online store that I used to DT for asking if I'd like to guest DT for them in March.  I'm so excited about that and can't wait to get started!

And, because no post is complete with out a picture...meet Spartacus!

Nope, he's not ours.  He's the Great Dane puppy of my nephew and his girlfriend.  We got to watch him this weekend and the kids were just thrilled!  They kept calling him Sparty-kiss!

Bridal Shower Card

Here's a card I made for my neice's bridal shower.  She's getting married later this month and Mickey is going to be her ring bearer and Audrey is going to be one of the flower girls.  To say the kids are excited is an understatement.  :)

I made this card using Studio Calico's Hey Day collection.  I also used a little Crate Paper, Maya Road and My Mind's Eye.

I really love the Hey Day Ephemera Pack.  I have the contents of it in a little milk class cup next to my pens and dig through it whenever I feel like a project needs a little something.  The colors in the line are just lovely!

Project Life & A Look at Work!

One thing I noticed about my Project Life this week, Andrew is absent!  Yikes!  I told him last night to prepare to get some pics taken of him.  I also think I need to make sure to get pics of him with the kids.  Aleida's Challenge is just as important for Dads as it is for Moms.

I wasn't sure what to do about the title with the overlap of months, but I think I'm okay with how it is now.  If I figure out something better, I'll change it up and let you know.  That's the nice thing about Project Life, changing up the title is a lot easier than changing a title on a traditional layout!

Aud missed school on Thursday (lost car keys!) so she requested Play-doh for a Friday morning activity.  It's one of her favorite things.  At Wednesday lunch with the Gran, Mickey had his first Taco pizza and he loved it!  He also started teaching Audrey to ride a bike this week.  I had two job interviews at Hot Off the Press and got hired as their new Project Designer!  I like calling myself a professional scrapbooker, though.  It's more fun!

We had the neighbors over Friday afternoon for a few hours and it was great.  The kids played while Brenda and I relaxed and chatted in the sun.  This week I also got happy scrappy mail..twice!  Adorable new flair from the lovely Bossy Joscie and my prize from being one of three winners in Paper Crafts January Gallery Challenge.  Sunday was my niece Rachel's bridal shower and I snapped a pic of myself and another niece, Claire, just to prove I'd been there.  I also got a pic of Mickey playing basketball in the evening.  He loves going outside and shooting hoops and will stay out until he can hardly see!

Here's a peek at my new desk at work!  Wednesday was my first day, kind of a learn about where everything is and get settled in day before I officially start on Monday.  It went really well and I got a card completed, approved and written up.  So exciting!

I can't wait to decorate my space!  It is in desperate need of pictures of my kids and a good dose of aqua!  ;)

Summer Memories Album

It's been so cold around here lately!  So, when I needed to make an album for Punky Sprouts using the new Hunk Punky album, I decided to warm myself up by making something summery!

I used the Summer Fresh line from Simple Stories.  Not only do the colors have a fantastic summery feel, they also have a denim print that goes so well with the Hunk Punky.

This album is going to be for this upcoming summer.  I'll print out 3"x3" Instagram pics and fill in the journaling as I go.

I was a little intimidated by the all denim pages at first but once I got into it, they were super fun to use!

I also used some fun pockets from Simple Stories.  I'll be able to tuck any regular photos that I want in those.

There's also an acrylic page in this album and I just love acrylic pages!!!  I used two matching border stickers and then a Parchment Lil' Blossom to make sure both sides of my page look cute.

I also really love that the denim pages have a color difference from front to back.  It give me more choices and adds a bit of fun to the album.

Can I just say, I love that floral print on the denim background.  It's so pretty and so happy and I can't get enough of it!

I used a lot of different brands on this albums.  I just kept grabbing bits and pieces from different lines that went with the bright, primary colors in the Summer Fresh line.

Here's the back of the album.  I try to keep my back covers fairly flat so I knew I wanted to use this little piece on the back.  However, I meant to have that floral on the back and this chevron on the inside.  Ah, well.

I hope this little album warms you up this cold February day.  Thanks for stopping by!

I Got the Job!!!

Just thought I'd share the layout I made for my job interview last week.  I was given five sheets of patterned paper, (two green, two yellow, and one stripe), some flower die cuts, two lengths of ribbon and some black and white cardstock.  My test was to create a two page layout using at least some of every item in the kit and then to make a card using some or all of the left overs.

Here's the two pager I made.  I just printed out the photos on regular paper at home and I'm really happy with how the layout turned out.  I'm going to have to recreate this!  :)

One of the challenges with this was that the first page of the two pager had to stand by itself.  So, here's page one.

And, this is the companion page I created.

There were no alphabets included so I used my printer and added the kids' initials to two of the die cuts.  Mickey's turned into a little ribbon after I cut out some of the stripes and notched the ends.

I also printed my title on white cardstock and turned it into a banner to mimic Mickey's ribbon.

They prefer typed journaling over handwritten so I turned again to my printer and then notched the ends as well.  I tucked the other end under some of the stripe strips I cut out and I really like that look.  I'll be doing that again!

For the card, I just used the die cuts and some of the patterned paper.  I was really trying to get it done quickly as I think my biggest obstacle towards getting this job is wanting to work partially from home.  So, I wanted to show that I could accomplish a lot in a little time.

Now that I have a little more time, I'd probably have added some of the along the yellow panel behind the green, layered with some of the two ribbons.

Ah, well.  We'll see how it goes.   I got the job!  I'm so excited and can't wait to get started!

Thanks for stopping by!  :)

Project Life and Some News

Still going strong on Project Life 2013!  Hopefully, this continues.  I've tried to make it easier on myself by avoiding adding inserts.  I'm sure I'll need to during busier weeks but for now, it's simpler to just edit the number of photos I use and choose which stories I want to tell.

This week I captured Mickey's librarian, his new hair cut and a school project.  There was a lunch with family, teaching Audrey to sew and introducing the kids to The Princess Bride.

Also included this week, a photo for Aleida's challenge, Audrey and her babies, our little guy Grayson and my candy addiction.  I also went for a run with friends on Sunday and Audrey packed me a snack of plastic ice cream and then fell asleep on me afterwards.

All in all, a pretty good week.  One other thing happened last week.  I got a call from a friend asking if I was looking for work.  Nope, not really.  Then she proceeded to tell me that the scrapbooking company in Canby (my town!) was hiring a project designer.  OMG!  I could get paid, hourly, to create layouts and cards.  Heaven!

My only concern is my kids.  I cannot give up all my time with them.  I had a job interview and we discussed my time constraints.  I was sent home with a designer test and dropped it off the next morning.  Hopefully, things fall into place and I can work there.  If not, at least I've got my foot in the door and introduced myself to them.  Wish me luck!
