The Best Class Ever!

Christine Middlecamp, designer for Sassafrass Lass and Crate Paper, is doing a free tutorial on her blog. It's going to be a shadow box with 16 intricately embellished doilies on it. There will be one tutorial per doily and each one will be different.

She's posted three of the tutorials so far and they are awesome! I've done all three, just finished the last one a little while ago, and they are super detailed and pretty easy to follow.

The really great thing about these is that while she gives you the info on what products she uses, you can easily substitute your own goodies.

Here's the first one.

I used some of the same kinds of paper (notebook style vs. ledger) but I've switched out colors based on what I had (aqua fabric paper vs. a pinky fabric) and just what I like (aqua bling vs. orange).
Here's the second one. This one's a little more noticeable different than hers but I still like it a lot!
I didn't have a flower transparency that would work so I created my own using a rub-on and some clear transparency. I also didn't have the little flower punch she used but found some similarly sized sequins that did the trick.
I tried out two chipboard flowers for this and wound up using both of them!
Here's the third doily. I think I love this one the most. Well, at least right now!
I've almost exclusively used scraps for this project which is a very good thing. My patterned paper scrap drawer is nutso-full! LOL!
Christine used a cute chipboard butterfly for her piece but I didn't have anything like it. I couldn't even find a stamp that I could color. So, I hopped on the web and searched "free clipart butterfly", printed out this cutie on some smooth cardstock and cut it out. Go me gettin' all hybrid! LOL!
These have been great at getting me to think outside the box with my products and to see them and how to use them in a different light.
I'm really looking forward to the next 13 tutorials! You should hop on over and join me! :D

How cool! I am so glad you left me a comment so I could see what you were doing with Christine's tutorials! I should (hopefully) get my doilies in the mail from create for less either today or tomorrow! I am going to play along too (and I have a lot of catching up to do)!

I'll subscribe to your blog so I can track your progress! How fun to do this together right?!?!?!

Found you on MME blog! Super fun blog! The third one is adorable and probably my favorite too!
