Nap Love

Over the summer, the heathens and I spent a week at my folk's house in Sunriver. The weather ran the gamut from rainy to hot so we had a couple days of indoor fun. I brought not only my scrappy stuff but some for them, too! It was quite fun and I even got some layouts made.

Here's one using a Glitz paper line and some fun gold accents. It's one of my favorite pics of Andrew and the kiddos all crashed out in our living room.

Supplies Used:  Patterned Paper-Glitz, Cardstock-Bazzill, Doilies-Studio Calico, Stickers-Glitz & American Crafts, Webster's Pages, Washi-Webster's Pages, Enamel Dots-Teresa Collins & My Mind's Eye, Flair-American Crafts, Vellum-Crate Paper, Transparency-Maya Road, Pens-Sharpie & Le Pen, Die-Technique Tuesday

I wanted an accent on the bottom that matched the gold on the doilies that I used so I die cut one into a heart and it turned out quite well.

I'd been watching a lot of Shimelle's videos where she ground her embellishment clusters with washi tape so I tried it here. It works really well and heaven knows I have plenty of washi tape!

I have an entire pack of the white polaroid transparencies from Maya Road that I hadn't even used yet so I was pretty excited to finally use one!

I'll be back in a few days with another layout from this trip.

Thanks for stopping by!

Twirl, Twirl, Twirl!

I'm back with a layout about one of Audrey's enduring (and endearing) habits. My girl is a hair twirler! When she was younger she used to twirl her hair up into a crazy looking dreadlock! This photo was taken a few years ago when she would crash Mickey's preschool class. ;) She even had her own name tag.

Supplies Used:  Patterned Paper-American Crafts, Stickers-American Crafts, Colorant-Gelatos, Dies-A~muse, Enamel Dots-My Mind's Eye & Basic Grey, Washi tape-stash, Letter Stickers-American Crafts & October Afternoon, Pen-LePen, Flair-American Crafts, Puffy Stickers-Dollar Tree

I used three different fonts for the title along with that loopy arrow sticker.

It's funny, I only bought this line because I got a great deal on the paper pad at Tuesday Morning or one of those other overstock stores. But, I've used it so much, I've ended up buying the sticker and die cut packs to go with it.

The butterflies I die cut from watercolor paper and colored with Gelatos. (I'd been watching some Wilna videos, too!)

So, there you have it. I think this is my third or fourth layout stemming from my impulse shopping!

Have you ever had an impulse scrappy purchase turn out to inspire other purchases?

Week In the Life Album for 2014

I did it! I finished my album! Well, I have a 4x6 spot and a two 2x2 spots to complete but other than that, I'm done!!! Woot!!!

These are the leftovers from my kit. I just tucked all of this in my Project Life album to use on that week's page. I keep a 12x12 page protector in the middle of each week in my album to add memorabilia and other stuff from that week and it all fit nicely in there.

I did a video walk through of the album and shared all the pages as well as some info on how I completed it.

Products Used: Kit(w/stamp set) & Gold Album-Ali Edwards, Inks-Stampin' Up! (Creamy Caramel, Pumpkin Pie & Sahara Sand), Heidi Swapp (Navy), Color Box Chalk Ink (Lime Pastel), Papertrey Ink (Aqua Mist), & Encore Ultimate Metallic (Gold), Embossing Powder-Stampin' Up! Gold detail, Pen-Sharpie Fine Point in Black, Stapler-Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher, Stamp Sets-Technique Tuesday (Today You by Ali Edwards), Vellum-Staples, Envelopes-?????, Patterned Paper-Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party, Teresa Collins You are My Happy, Basic Grey for Studio Calico, Echo Park Creative Agenda, Stickers-Echo Park Creative Agenda, Border Punch-Fiskars, Marker-Gold Sharpie

Sorry about the not stellar video quality but I shot it with my iPhone 4s attached to my tripod using...binder clips, an IKEA kitchen shelf bar, a clamp from my husband's shop, and yard sticks! Yeah, I'm full on professional here, folks!

I've got a few more video ideas rolling around. I've got some organization tips I'd like to share, new products I want to drool over, and layouts I'd like to share including why I added certain items.

Are you interested? Let me know if you liked this and I can make more!

Week in the Life

This last week I took part in Ali Edward's Week In the Life project. I'd tried it a few times and never completed it. This year, with a lot of forward notice and the added incentive of buying her kit, I did it! I documented each day and now I'd like to share some of those with you.

Here are some of my favorite photos from the week!

I've been working on putting together the album and even with a big break for a trip to Hawaii(I know, rough life!) I feel like I've gotten really far! I've got all my pictures in it and quite a bit of the journaling and embellishing done. I probably will have it done in the next few days.

There are almost 40 pages so I don't think I'll be photographing the entire album to share here. I may just share a few of my favorite pages along with one full day. Or, I may try to get a video walk through of it. I've never done that before so we'll see how that goes. Maybe during Thanksgiving break?

Are you doing a WITL album? How's it going?

Crazy Happy!

After making time (and clearing desk space) to create a card for my mother-in-law, I got super motivated to scrapbook. I dug through some photos from this year, grabbed this gem, and got to work!

Supplies Used: Cardstock-DCWV, Patterned Paper-Glitz & Basic Grey, Die Cuts-American Crafts & Glitz, Washi Tape-My Minds Eye, Flair-American Crafts, Stickers-Sticko & Glitz, Wood Veneer-Studio Calico & Freckled Fawn, Paper Clip-Freckled Fawn, Enamel Dots-Basic Grey, Pen-Sharpie

These two heathens of mine are truly happy together. They play so well together and it's been a lot of fun for them to both be playing the same sport.

This was the first day that they both had a game and I got a shot or two of them all suited up! The journaling is about how they were supportive of each other and understanding that when their games were at the same time, we couldn't watch both of them.

This wood veneer word is one of my most recent purchases and I always love it when I use something new and something older (cough:::hoarded:::cough) like the happy banner.

I'd actually purchased the baseball stickers for Mickey, and while he used some of them, he wound up losing interest so I snagged the rest! Hee!

Well, there you have it! The result of my little crafting spurt from a few days ago. I'm hoping to get more in but with two kiddos in soccer and one of them also in garden club along with volunteering at school, my me time is getting sacrificed a bit. I'm not worried about it though, soon enough they won't need me so much and I'll be longing for these busy days back.

Playing Along With the Pretty Plants Challenge!

Ahhhh, crafting time! You come in fits and starts these days. I finally had to make some time to craft because I needed a card for my mother-in-law's birthday. I remembered that Moxie Fab World had another Fabulous Friday challenge going on and it was the perfect inspiration for her card.

I pulled a few inks that matched the colors of the pots and stamped a cute doily all over the cardstock panel. Then I was inspired by the cactus to have something "growing" on the page and punched flowers out of vellum and randomly stapled them on a few doilies. (I'm still loving vellum on my cards.)

Supplies Used: Cardstock-Georgia Pacific, Stamps-Lilybee Designs, Inks-Heidi Swapp, Vellum-Staples, Enamel Dots-Queen & Co., Staples-Tim Holtz

I stamped the sentiment on a strip of white cardstock, accented it with some enamel dots and glued it down. Then I foam taped the entire panel to my white card base and I was done!

A fairly quick, very cute card that I hope my mother-in-law loves as much as we love her!

Trendy Triangles Challenge!

While adding my link to the Camera Challenge at Moxie Fab World, I saw this inspiring image and knew that I had to take part in the Trendy Triangles Challenge, too!

Here is my take on the Trendy Triangles challenge!

Supplies Used: Cardstock-Georgia-Pacific, Vellum-Staples, Embossing Folder-Lifestyle Crafts, Ink-Tsukineko, Stamp-Papertrey Ink, Pens-Copic, Glitter Ink-SmoochGlitz, Other-Sewing machine & thread

I had embossed this vellum panel when I made my previous card and chose the chevron one instead. I colored some of the triangles with Copic markers and then painted over the colored triangles with SmoochGlitz in Frost to give them a little oomph!

These were the colors I used, just in case you were curious. :)

I stamped the sentiment with an ink pad my neighbor had given me! Thanks, Cindy!!! It worked perfectly with my card!

I used my sewing machine to attach the vellum and the sentiment to the card without having any adhesive show though. I did add a glue dot or two under the sentiment to keep the panel from flapping around too much. I love how this little card turned out!

Thanks for stopping by!

Joining the Clicking Cameras Challenge at Moxie Fab World!

I decided that some crafting was in order today and made this card to enter in the fun at the Moxie Fab World blog! The awesome Teri challenged us to create something using a camera themed product.

I've had this Vintage Camera die by Tim Holtz for a while now and finally got to break it in...and I love it! I was worried that it would look a little too rough/grungy but it's just perfect.

Supplies Used:  Cardstock-Bazzill, Vellum-Staples, Embossing Folder-Lifestyle Crafts, Patterned Paper-Cosmo Cricket, Die-Sizzix, Alphabet Stickers-American Crafts, Ink-Color Box, Pens-Sharpie, Faber Castell, & Marvy

I used some gold Thickers for the sentiment and also for most of the embellishment. The gold was a little brassy for my taste so I toned it down with cream ink. I cut up the more flourishy letters to tuck behind the camera and used some of the punctuation on the camera. This is a great way to use up some of those more uncommon letters.

I added more gold by outlining both the camera and the embossed vellum background. I also used my Spritzer to add some gold Sharpie mist to my camera.

I really enjoyed making this card and encourage you to take part in some of the fun challenges over at Moxie Fab World!

Love At First Sight!

Another recent favorite, this layout documents me getting to meet my newest great-niece, Riven! Isn't she beautiful? I seriously love her!

I made this layout from some left overs from a CKC class kit from a few years ago. It used the Nostalgia line from My Mind's Eye.

I used goodies from the class kit and some newer embellishments, like the wood veneer. I added the "3" sticker because she is my third great-niece.

The cute little flair are some sweet Studio Calico finds from my local scrap store. The enamal dots are from My Mind's Eye and Lily Bee Designs.

I used the stickers and flair to build my title along with letter stickers, something I don't normally do. I love how it turned out!

Journaling reads: "I finally met sweet little Riven when she was five weeks old. I'm so grateful that Rachael brought her out for a visit. She is such a beautiful baby and looks so much like Kevin! I was smitten at first sight!"

Lucky Me!

This has to be one of my favorite layouts that I've made recently. I love the topic, the picture, the products I used and how it turned out. It just makes me happy!

I used some gorgeous papers from Webster's Pages, Making Memories and Crate Paper.

I also used Studio Calico wood veneers, stickers from Webster's Pages, Lilly Bee, and Echo Park and brads and enamel dots from My Mind's Eye.

I also used three Project Life cards on this layout. Something I'd wanted to do but hadn't tried before. It turned out really cute!

The journaling reads: "Being home with you two gives me so many opportunities to have great days like these days where we just take off and hang out. Days where it doesn't matter what we do and where we go. Days where having fun is all we are concerned with. I am so lucky to have all these days with the two of you!"

More Baseball!

Here's some highlights from three more of the kiddo's games.

Mickey was so excited this game. He hit his first pitch every time at bat!

And, he never got out. :)

This was Audrey's second game and she did way better than her first!

It was also the first of her games that Mickey was able to go to but he was too tempted by the older boys and volunteered his football for a game.

Audrey made friends with a girl named Anna this game. We had to holler at her to pay attention a few times.

She got her first hit at her third at bat! Before that, she'd always hit off the tee. We were super proud of her!

She was also really into her fielding.

She told her coach, "I just want to get the ball!"

They had a great game and the other team was a lot of fun to play. They were really good and their coach was awesome, not only with his kids but ours too!

And then, last night, Mickey's team had a game.

Andrew was the third base coach the first inning.

Little Man played pitcher the first two innings. He caught a grounder and ran to home to get the runner from third out. Unfortunately, he needed to tag the runner because it wasn't a force out but he didn't know that. Once he figured that out he was really upset. His coaches got him calmed down and the game started up again. The very next hit was a grounder straight to his glove. He ran it to home and tagged out the runner! It was awesome, all the parents cheered like mad! His coach said, "Mickey, when you get home, you need to look up redemption in the dictionary."

His hitting wasn't as good as last game...

but his fielding was awesome! He played first base the third inning and got two runners out all on his own.

The Bulldogs won their game and cheered the other team, who was really great, too!

I'm really loving being a baseball mom. Especially to these two kiddos who are having so much fun!
